Pac-Man Roomba

Pac-Man

Man, I haven’t posted in a long time. I’ve had some nasty cold or something, and between that and trying to keep up with work I haven’t had much time for anything else. :(

Anyways…here’s a quick post. This guy hacked his Roomba vacuum cleaner into Pac-Man (sort of):

Pac-Man Shoelaces - FOUND!

Pac-Man, Signs & Decorations

Hello there. Back in February, I got me some Pac-Man skates. Alas, they were missing laces. I figured it would be cool to put some Pac-Man laces in them, and finally found some on eBay:

Pac-Man Shoelaces

Behold:

Pac-Man Rollerskates w. Laces

I’m heading out now for my morning skate to Dunkin’ Donuts…wish me luck!

Marquee Madness

Donkey Kong, Pac-Man

Oh, man…it’s been awhile since I’ve posted. Guess time flies when you aren’t having fun. :( I should be able to post a little more frequently when my current work project is finally complete.

I picked up 3 marquees (well…2 marquees and a CPO). They were all advertised on eBay as marquees, and I snagged them for $20.

I *think* the Puck-Man is legit. I will sell it to you for $500. “The Climber” must be a bootleg of “Crazy Climber”, but I can’t find any more info about it. If you know anything more, please comment.

The DK CPO is in really good shape…it has some small scratches on the surface that I can probably buff out. That’s the only piece here that I’ll actually use on a game. I know have a cabinet, CPO, and sideart for that project. At some point, I’m going to buy a PCB, marquee, bezel, and new controls and put it all together.

Pac-Man Lunch Box Proof!

Pac-Man, Signs & Decorations

I love surprises. Most people do, unless it’s one like “I’m going to stab you!!!!” or a fortune cookie that reads “food poisoned…you go bye bye”.

Well…this was one of those GOOD surprises:

IMG_3920

I forgot that I won this on eBay. It’s an original artwork proof for the Aladdin Pac-Man lunch box made in 1982. I was surprised to see it stored inside an Aladdin envelope. Here’s a description of it from the eBay auction:

Up for bid is an original paper proof sheet for Aladdin Industries 1982 PAC-MAN lunchbox - front, back, and sideband. It is in perfect condition, bright and shiney, unfaded, no rips or tears. It is made of the same type of material that a poster is made of.  It measures 22X32. It is dated 3/22/82. It has been folded to fit into a normal size file drawer. I found a bunch of these folded and in a file, I will be listing them over the next few days. This item has probably been in that file for 26years.  Please ignore the camera glare in the photos - it looks like there is some fading - there is not. This item would look great framed.

I guess this was a proof to get the artwork approved by someone (Namco?) or maybe just to get it approved internally before releasing the final product. I’ve never seen one of these before. The seller also had a Dragon’s Lair one that sold for a little more than this one. If you know more about this, please comment. :)

Waka Waka Waka Bang Bang Bang

Pac-Man

Here’s what I was waiting for from eBay :)

Pac-Man Drum

I think I’m going to hang this somehow from the ceiling so it’s on an angle, but I haven’t figured out exactly how yet.

More Crap From eBay: Pac-Man Roller Skates

Pac-Man

I just got these in the mail, straight from eBay:

Pac-Man Roller Skates

I need to get some Pac-Man shoelaces for them. When I find them, I’m thinking of hanging them on the wall by their laces.

These are children’s size 1. All attempts to jam my size 10 1/2 feet into them were futile. :(

Here they are zoomed out in context with the room.

Pac-Man Roller Skates

I have another very cool item on the way that I’m going to use to decorate the arcade. I’m hoping it will show up tomorrow. I’ll post pics when it arrives.

12 Shopping Days Left!

Pac-Man

Howdy, partner. There are only 12 shopping days left until Christmas. If you celebrate Kwanzaa, you get an extra shopping day (you lucky bastard).

We have our tree up, but it’s not decorated yet. We will probably do that this weekend. It is however leaning a little more to the left every day since we got it Sunday, and it should fall over as I finish writing this post.

I don’t have anything new to report in the arcade world, but I feel so very badly for keeping you in the dark for 7 days recently, that I managed to dig something out to take a picture of. Here’s a Pac-Man switch cover that I got on eBay awhile back:

IMG_3062
Isn’t it cool? The pic doesn’t show it well, but it’s about an 1/8″ thick and made of plastic. Unfortunately, the light switch in my arcade has 2 switches. Maybe I’ll remove one just so I can use this puppy.

Don’t Trifle With a Heavyweight!

Pac-Man

Here is a scan of an ad I got awhile back on eBay:

I think this came from a magazine, but I’m not sure which one. Click here for the original uncompressed scan (9.4MB).

Bootleg(?) Pac-Man Marquee

Pac-Man

Hey there, hi there, ho there. Checkout this strange Pac-Man marquee that I picked up on eBay:

IMG_2580

IMG_2583

IMG_2584

Things that are wrong with this as compared to a regular marquee:

  • No Midway copyright notice
  • Art under logo is slightly different
  • That instruction box is not on the normal marquee
  • The Pac-Man in that instruction box is eating more pac-men instead of ghosts(autocannibalism?)
  • The fruit is all wrong. The first fruit should be a cherry, not a watermelon (which doesn’t exist in Pac-Man). The banana doesn’t exist normally either.
  • The instruction box calls Pac-Man “Cruncher”

The reference to Cruncher and the look of the instruction box are identical to this marquee for a game called Cruncher:

cruncher

I’m guessing Cruncher is a bootleg as well. If you know anything about that game or this weird Pac marquee let me know. :)

Pac-Man For Trade?

Pac-Man

I just picked up another Pac-Man today. :)
IMG_2466

I don’t really need 2, so I’m planning on getting rid of this one.  I’m looking to see if anyone is interested in trading this for another classic.

I’ll describe it the best I can, followed by pics. It has Pac-Man Plus roms in it. It’s complete, and seems to play fine as far as the game board is concerned. Sound seems OK. The joystick is screwy, but it can be easily fixed. I looked at it quickly and one leaf switch was missing a leaf.

IMG_2461

The game has it’s original power supply…not a switcher.

IMG_2460

The cabinet is typical for it’s age. It’s not perfect, but it’s better than some I’ve seen. It has some scratches here and there, and no water damage. I’ve taken detailed pics of the side that you can zoom in on to see the condition.

Someone put corner protectors on it. They also painted 2 black stripes on the front. I guess they were going for a bumblebee look. :)

The monitor is blurry, and could probably stand a cap kit.

If you have any questions about it let me know. Clicking any one of those pictures will take you to that picture in my Flickr album. There are more pics in there than shown here. The album name is “Pac-Man (#2) for trade”. If you are interested in a trade or want to come see it please send me an email: jamie@ldev.com.

As for games I’d be interested in:
Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong JR.
Mario Bros
Q*bert
Frogger
Simpsons Arcade
Simpsons Bowling
other suggestions welcome?

This is really just a feeler. If no one is interested in a trade, I will probably fix it up and put it on ePay.

OH…and I am in Westerly, RI. This would be pickup only.
