More Toys from eBay

Donkey Kong

I’ve been so damn busy lately… haven’t had much time for posting or working on games. Hopefully I can get back to goofing off very soon. :)

I’ve been collecting Presto Magix transfers for awhile now….I used to love them when I was a kid. Usually when I search for them on eBay a few non Presto Magix brands turn up. I’ve never been interested in getting any of those until I found these:

They’re from ‘81 and ‘82, still sealed. The wife wanted to play with these, and I told her if I caught her opening them she would have to sleep outside in the woods. She has been warned.

The Mailman Cometh

Centipede, Donkey Kong, Signs & Decorations

I was sitting at the computer, and a mail truck I did hear
When what to my wondering eyes should appear
But a bunch of stuff for the arcade.

First up, my Centipede keychain from Oleszak Creative:

I haven’t decided, but I think I’ll probably put my Centipede keys on this and hang it on the coin door. The packaging for this was very cool, but I forgot to take a pic of it before I opened it. You can see the packaging and more examples of these keychains here.

Next, some DK art from ArcadeShop.com:

The thing stuck to the marquee in that first pic is the instruction card for under the bezel. I’d love to see these with the masking removed, but I’m not going to remove it until I have restored the Popeye cabinet that these are going to go in. I have all the art I need now for this. The only parts I need are a DK PCB, joystick, and buttons.

Finally….a “Tokens” marquee:

The plan for this is to make it into a backlit sign to put over my token machine.

That is all. Go back to watching cat videos on YouTube.

Marquee Madness

Donkey Kong, Pac-Man

Oh, man…it’s been awhile since I’ve posted. Guess time flies when you aren’t having fun. :( I should be able to post a little more frequently when my current work project is finally complete.

I picked up 3 marquees (well…2 marquees and a CPO). They were all advertised on eBay as marquees, and I snagged them for $20.

I *think* the Puck-Man is legit. I will sell it to you for $500. “The Climber” must be a bootleg of “Crazy Climber”, but I can’t find any more info about it. If you know anything more, please comment.

The DK CPO is in really good shape…it has some small scratches on the surface that I can probably buff out. That’s the only piece here that I’ll actually use on a game. I know have a cabinet, CPO, and sideart for that project. At some point, I’m going to buy a PCB, marquee, bezel, and new controls and put it all together.

Donkey Kong Sideart

Donkey Kong

Greetings earthlings. I posted about this awhile back, but for those that didn’t see it I have a spare Popeye in the garage that I plan on converting to a minty fresh Donkey Kong.

Here’s the cabinet I’m referring to:

I’ve been wanting to buy parts for it for a long time, but never got around to it. I need more parts than I have $$$, so I was putting it off. Darin Jacobs at PhoenixArcade.com posted a sale in the RGVAC newsgroups, offering free shipping on select items from now through April 14th. I took advantage of it and finally got some DK sideart:

Now I just need a marquee, bezel, control panel, and PCB. :)

Popeye, take 2

Donkey Kong

I was goofing off in the afternoon yesterday instead of working (shocking, I know!). I found a Popeye on Craigslist and ended up getting it. For those that haven’t been reading every single day, I already have a Popeye. I plan on turning this one into a Donkey Kong sometime before December 21st, 2012. :) I think I’ll be putting the Popeye parts on eBay (Marquee, Bezel, CPO, and PCB) at some point in the future. If you are interested in buying them off of me please let me know.

My neighbors must think I’m crazy by now. In order to make room for this in the garage, I had to bring Defender inside the house. To get at it, I had to bring Pac-Man out into the driveway. Defender needed leg levers, so I had it lying on its back in the driveway along with Pac-Man and Popeye.

The only spot I had left for a game inside is now taken, blocking my only exit in the basement!

I had to decide which one I wanted more…a door, or a Defender - and Defender won hands down.
