Hi Dan,

1. Yup. I definitely sanded in between. I *think* I sanded after the last coat as well if I remember right.

2. I started from the flipper end.

I can't wait to get the cabinet I bought for this. The shipper is really taking his time on it.

Hey Jamie, two quick questions...

1. Did you sand between the two coats of poly?
2. Which end did you start applying the playfield at?

Can't wait to see how the side-art turns out for you, I am putting off applying mine until I see how yours go!heehee

Hi Darren,

>Thanks again for all the details and help.
No problem.

>I see the repair kit for the battery, have you done >repairs like this before?

I had to clean up battery corrosion on my Mario Bros board, but it wasn't nearly as bad.

>Would it be too hard for a first timer.

If you can solder OK, then you should be fine. If you haven't done much soldering you probably should practice on a junk board for awhile.

>Also, what do you plan to do about the battery, are you >going to replace it with someting new?

I'll probably go this route:

Jamie,
Thanks again for all the details and help. I see the repair kit for the battery, have you done repairs like this before? Would it be too hard for a first timer. I know you have to be careful not to damage the board. Also, what do you plan to do about the battery, are you going to replace it with someting new? I have seen the ones that are sold with a connection to put a D battery on and off so that problem will no longer occur.

Hi Darren,

Thanks for the comments. :) Sanding over the plastic inserts didn't do any damage. I can't wait to see this done but unfortunately I can't start again on it until tomorrow. :)

You can see the white battery at the very bottom of the board here:
http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=2155487476&size=o

I cut it off to keep it from spreading. I really need to cleanup the board of all the acid it left behind and replace components that are damaged. I bought this kit which should help:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=290193903910&Category=13727&_trksid=p3907.m29

I had a good link to a page explaining the best way to cleanup the acid but can't seem to find it. You brush off any acid you can first, then hit it with vinegar and water (50/50?) first to neutralize the acid, then go back in and clean it up with rubbing alcohol.

This site has good info on how repairing Baby Pacs:
http://www.marvin3m.com/bally/babypac.htm

The monitor was working, but with a really crappy picture. It probably just needs a cap kit. I'm going to do one and take it from there. HappControls.com sells monitors. I'm not sure if they have a 13" but they probably do.

No problem about all the questions...glad that someone is reading all this. :)

You earlier stated that your "MPU board which has battery corrosion damage" Can you put a picture showing the board and the battery you cut off? Do you plan to buy a new board with the detachable battery? How does your moniter work, do you have to replace it? Let me know if you know a place to get a new one. My brother's moniter works, but it does not have good quality. Sorry about all the questions, thanks for your help!
