Overlay City – Population: 4
Xevious December 4th, 2007I just got a package in from Todd Tuckey at TNTAmusements. He’s the guy that my wife got my Ms. Pac / Galaga 20th reunion machine from that got me into this whole arcade collecting illness. When I got my Xevious, I searched to see what was out there for parts. PhoenixArcade.com made marquee and control panel overlays for it, but were sold out of the marquees. Todd had a post in a forum listing Xevious marquees for sale that were the same ones done by Pheonix Arcade. I got a good deal on it, and it looks great!
When I inquired about this, he had to reply with an awesome offer for Crystal Castles art. An offer that I couldn’t refuse (I was afraid that he might break my kneecaps). I don’t even own a Crystal Castles, but I want to get one someday, and unless it’s new in the box it will probably need these parts. Check ‘em out.

That’s great. I need to hunt down some Crystal Castles aretwork eventually (I have some other things I should probably fix first on the cabinet, like either rebuild the trackball or buy a new one, because mine is pretty crusty at the moment).

Hey Mark,
He said he had 3 sets left, which makes 2 now after I bought one. I don’t feel right telling anyone how much I paid in case it was a special deal that he may not want to give to everyone…I can tell you that it was an awesome price. I wasn’t in the market for CC art, but I couldn’t pass it up. If you are thinking about getting some, you might want to shoot him an email.
I gotta stop buying this crap!

Thanks for the tip, I just called them and ordered up a set (I tried to say “Jamie sent me”, but it had suprisingly little impact
). It was a good price (I think I can list it since it’s a special they are advertising right now on the site, you may have gotten a better deal than me, but that would make sense since you throw more business their way).
It was all 3 art pieces (marquee, speaker overlay, and control panel overlay) for $65. That’s good, I’ve looked around, and the best deal I could find (that had as high quality repros like these guys) was $90 + shipping, so this was great.
My marquee and cpo are actually ok, not perfect, but not horrible, it’s my speaker panel that really needs help (the center atari logo piece is currently being held on with electrical tape. I will need to scrape off the overlay and then glue the glass up, and put the new overlay on). I figured I’d do the other 2 art pieces at the same time.
Again, thanks for the post, I’m sure I wouldn’t have seen those guys or given them a call about their Crystal Castles artwork if I hadn’t seen your post.

You’re welcome.
That was pretty much what I paid. I paid $55, not counting shipping. I was already paying shipping for the Xevious marquee so he just included it in with that. Now I just need to find a Crystal Castles.

Were the Crystal Castles done by Phoenix Arcade as well? I knew they made the Xevious ones….
Jamie, do you know, did Darin get with Scott Evans for films on the Xevious artwork?

Yes, the CC art was by Phoenix Arcade. I’m not sure if Darin worked with Scott Evans on the Xevious art. Was he the original artist?

From what little I know, Scott Evans is a well known collector who was able to go to the Atari location when it closed and work out a deal to get all sorts of Atari information, films, artwork, and games. http://www.atarigames.com is the website, and he spends a lot of money to just maintain and keep all of that information preserved.
Pretty sure he has Food Fight artwork, this Darin used him to make those marquees. Tried to contact him to see, but I think I am too much of a collecting pion. I would need to keep extending my network to get his attention.

Cool…I didn’t know about that site. I’m checking it out now.
