24 and Other General Ramblings
Uncategorized July 23rd, 2007Hey! It’s been quite a few days since my last post, so I figure I better put something up here. Work has been keeping me a bit too busy to get a lot of arcade stuff done the past week or so. I have made more progress on the Moon Patrol bezel recreation, and hope to have it done soon.
One thing I wanted to mention for those readers like me who have been living in a cave for the last 6 years… the show 24 is incredible!

I’ve heard all the buzz surrounding this show, and was interested in it. I never watched it when it first came out, and don’t like jumping into a series mid-stream. My Dad told me it was great, so I started renting it through Netflix. OMG. I have NEVER seen a show that sucks you in quite like this does. We are completely hooked. This may possibly be the best TV show I have ever seen, and I’ve seen a lot. (come check out the ass groove in my sofa if you don’t believe me!)
We’ve gotten through the first season and the first few episodes of the 2nd. I’m hoping I can catch up on all 6 seasons before season 7 starts. Each season is like a 24 hour long movie, loaded with twists. I’m waiting for Linda to get down here so we can watch a few more.
Do yourself a favor…if you’ve never seen this show, just go rent disk 1 of season 1. I guarantee you will like it. If you are a non 24 fan and don’t go rent this disk in the next 24hrs, I will hit this puppy right in the nose:
Do NOT make me roll up a newspaper.

I got super additcted to 24 with the first season, and like you, ended up watching the whole first season in like a week with my wife (we just coulnd’t stop watching them).
Right after we finished season 1, we started right into season 2, and I had a really hard time finishing it. We got to like episode 6 or 7 and we just had to stop (24 overload). We took a long time off, and we just finally went back and finished up season 2 (we just really needed a break between seasons).
We have also started through season 3 now, and it’s the same problem (we got a few in, but couldn’t finish). I also have become really irritated by Kim (even in season 1 she did stupid stuff that no normal person would do, so it just completely breaks you out of the show and becomes irritating). Like if you’re being chased, why would she go down a deserted alley when there are tons of people in the streets she could just start screaming etc… stuff like that get’s old really fast.
I actually think these shows would be better if they were called “16″. 24 episodes was just a little too much for the writers, so some of the episodes become filler in my opinion. Still a great show though, and definately worth watching (season 1 is still my favorite so far).

Hey Mark,
I know what you mean. You watch it and its like you have to just keep going to find out what’s next and can get burned out on it. I’m still going strong, and we are on Season 2 disc 2 (I think). Kim does seem a bit stupid! We’ve been doing the same thing…wondering why she doesn’t do obvious stuff. I really like the unexpected twists though. I won’t mention any here in case someone else is reading and doesn’t want spoilers.

24 is a really good show, if a tad over-the-top at times. The first 3-4 seasons were outstanding but IMHO it started to fade over time. This last season was kind of mediocre and I’m hoping for better next season.
Kim really did do some stupid things the first season, but frankly Elisha Cuthbert was so pretty that I didn’t mind.
