I Punched my Wife in the Face!
Rampage April 26th, 2007It’s true. But she deserved it! She was trying to eat humans that I already had my eye on. No, we are not ready for the looney bin yet (though very close!)…we were playing Rampage:
I just picked this up today in Stratford, CT. This game is awesome. You get to be one of 3 monsters, obviously stolen from monster movies…King Kong, Godzilla, and the Wolfman. This game was in a warehouse that also had some other games in it. Nothing that I had room for or would be interested in except for this. Unfortunately, it was loaded with mold like my Space Invaders. I think it must have been in a damp location at one point, but it didn’t have any water damage. Just loads of mold:
It took me hours to clean it up in the driveway. My neighbors must have thought I was nuts! I looked like I was from outerspace with my mask, safety goggles and other hazmat equipment. I took all the boards out first. Then I vaccuumed all the mold out, and sprayed the entire insides down with Zep cleaner/disinfectant. I let it sit for awhile, and then wiped down every square inch inside with Zep again. Hopefully I got it all…
Before I put the boards back in, I sprayed them with the air hose to get any loose mold off. I followed that by cleaning the entire outside with some Fantastik with anti-bacterial goodness. Mmmm….love that anti-bacterial goodness. After finally getting it cleaned up, I put some new locks in and rolled it inside.
It works OK, but has a bit of a glitch that I haven’t had a chance to look at yet. The monitor tends to flicker after you play for awhile. The control panel overlay is pretty warn out, so if you know where I can get one please let me know.

Hi Jamie,
I read on WebMagic that you own a Grayhound Skill Crane. I own a Jumbo Grayhound Skill Crane. I am having trouble with the claw closing, otherwise things appear working great. In fact it was working a day ago then abruptly stopped.
Curious if you had the manual and/or wiring diagrams for the crane.
Would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Hi Jason,
I have the manual and schematics. I’m not sure if what I have is the full manual or not. I’ll scan them later today and post them here for you. If for some reason I forget, feel free to remind me.

I love Rampage. I used to play this game all the time. I tried to get my wife to play it with me on the mame machine, but she just doesn’t find it as fun as I do
I haven’t tried the new Rampage (Rampage 2000 or something), but I heard it was horrible compared to the classic.
It is incredible the rate your arcade has grown. It’s like you have arcade mania

Hey Mark…I haven’t tried the newer versions either…I love this one though.
I definitely have arcade mania! My wife isn’t helping my condition…we have half of the downstairs as a game room, the other half a living room. She said the other day she thought it would be cool to just make the whole room an arcade.

Hey Jason - I just scanned the crane manual and put it on a Downloads page. Click the “Downloads” tab up top to get to it. Good luck fixing yours!

Ha, my wife is an enabler too, I am in a condo, so most of our machines are in the dining/kitchen area, and she told me we should probably move the table to storage so we could fit more machines :). I haven’t done it yet, but the option is there (I may buy a crystal castles soon, so I’m going to need a place to put it)

That’s cool that she’s like that…definitely helps! Crystal Castles is a cool game…I’d like to get one eventually.
